The Onlus Balò Association works
to give a future
to the Indian disadvantaged children

Balò aims to involve the local people in the organization of its initiatives. In Calcutta (Howrah) Balò has organized a work group composed of young Indian women, fairly paid, in the manufacture of handicraft and of items and accessories to be sold in Europe. The proceeds are completely ploughed back into the Howrah community in order to finance the plans of direct aid that Balò has.
In particular the association, through the engagement of some Italian and Indian volunteers, has run courses in order to teach the group the basic skills of cutting, sewing and embroidery. Balo also teaches designs and patterns that are in line with European designs so that these items can sell on the Italian and European market.

Young women are able to count on a fair salary and financially independent.
They can provide for themselves and their families. These women also grow in confidence and in responsibilities. They acquire a sense of identity. An added value of the initiative is represented from the bonding function that the group exercises, creating a virtuous circle that leads to a great improvement in the material and spiritual living conditions of the entire community.
