First steps<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Bal\u00f2 Association took its first steps in 2005<\/b> from a volunteer experience of its founder, Elisabetta Ravaioli.\nIn Howrah, Elisabetta immediately saw the need to intervene<\/b> directly to help some very poor families, already well below the poverty line, to avoid their total collapse with the consequent immediate worsening of the children's living conditions. These risks prompted Elisabetta to lay the foundations of collaboration with some Indian volunteers who could follow the projects, families, and children on an ongoing basis. \nAll the activity was carried out under the careful supervision of the Italian volunteers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\nCon il passare dei mesi l\u2019attivit\u00e0 si consolida, viene individuata una piccola base logistica a – Pilkhana – Howrah, dove bambini e famiglie si ritrovano per ricevere <\/span>ascolto<\/b> e <\/span>aiuto<\/b>, soprattutto alimentare e medico. Per i bambini si punta decisamente sull\u2019<\/span>educazione scolastica<\/b>, unica possibilit\u00e0 per cercare di dar loro un futuro migliore. Sempre durante quest\u2019anno, si iniziano a pagare le spese scolastiche di alcuni bambini.<\/span>\n\nNell\u2019ottobre 2007 si costituisce formalmente l\u2019associazione di volontariato.\n<\/b><\/span>Nasce la <\/span>Sartoria Bal\u00f2<\/b> formata da giovani donne che realizzano manufatti e capi d\u2019abbigliamento la cui vendita contribuisce a reperire fondi per aiutare altre famiglie e bambini.<\/span>\n\nIl 30 Aprire 2008<\/b>On 30 April 2008 th association obtained the recognition of an NGO - non-profit organization<\/b>, or non-profit organization of social utility.\n\nNella primavera del <\/span>2011<\/b> Bal\u00f2 apre la sua prima vera e propria sede operativa <\/span>Casabal\u00f2<\/b><\/a> a PilKhana \u2013 Howrah, pi\u00f9 grande e strutturata, per poter accogliere i bimbi durante le attivit\u00e0 pomeridiane. Questa \u00e8 anche la sede della sartoria. In questo stesso anno assume insegnanti qualificati per seguire i bambini nei compiti.<\/span>\n\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Having a bigger structure, Bal\u00f2 was now in a position to open its first kindergarten in 2013<\/b> with an inhouse canteen, and in 2014 the first classes of primary schools were established. For the upper classes, children attended a nearby school fully paid with Bal\u00f2 funds.<\/p>

At the end of 2016 Elisabetta opened the Home Shelter<\/b> for girls: 8 girls between 8 and 18 years, rescued from situations which were very risky for their physical and mental safety, live full-time in the house and are mothered by a qualified person who takes care of them.<\/p>

In 2017, Balo English medium School<\/b> opened its doors. The entire cycle of studies from kindergarten to class 10 was provided, in addition to canteen facilities where lunch was provided to pupils and staff each day.<\/p>

In 2021<\/b>, the course of studies was extended up to classes 11 and 12, or upper secondary school. As of April 2022<\/b>, 350 pupils were on the rolls, a vast increase on the small beginnings in 2006. In 2023<\/b>, the first group of students \u2013 11 in all \u2013 graduated.<\/p>

Today, over 380 students divided into 14 classes<\/b> (from kindergarten to class 12) are successfully attending school: Every year, more children are enrolled in Balo school. These children will have the opportunity to study in a completely free school with fully qualified teachers in the heart of the district of Pilkhana.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Bal\u00f2 ODV has decided to operate in India<\/b> where there is still a gap that seems unbridgeable between the population benefiting from the economic boom and the population that has no access even to the minimum standards of life; where hygiene and sanitation leave a lot to be desired and is a luxury that few have, where to send their children to school is often unthinkable.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
