Together with a dedicated team of local volunteers, we are working on eradicating the poverty in a slum area by providing free access to english medium schools, free medical services and free nutritious food to 80 underprivileged children and their families.

They indeed deserve a chance to a brighter future...

Balo runs 2 main projects:

Tuition center: where the children gather to do their homework in a nurtured and safe
environment. They have shown tremendous improvement in their school performances and
behaviors.

Tailoring center which produces garments and accessories for the Italian market. It has been
created to empower Balo mothers and it has helped them to gain financial independance as
well as confidence, dignity and pride.
Empowerment, a sense of responsibility and appreciation are the ideals around which Balò has been created.

Sponsor a child
Did you ever think of sponsoring a child?
With a daily contribution of less than 70 cents of euro the child will receive a shelter, nutritious food, clothing and, above all, an education. This will directly contribute to his/ her social and professional rehabilitation.

Voluntary work
Come to Kolkata and work as a volunteer at Balò for a few months to help us with teaching, counselling and/or coordination of the daily tasks.

PR work
Join and help us in organizing conferences and presentations speak about Balò Onlus around you make your friends aware of the cause of
deprived children.

Charity event
Help us organize a charity event (e.g. a concert) to raise funds for Balò or give a donation to Balò from your own event’s proceedings. This is a rather unique experience! Get involved in Balò’s activities, stay with the children, share their daily routine and struggle. Come and teach in our tuition center in the afternoon so that the children can be (to)exposed to native English speakers and be given the opportunity to mix with different people from the ‘outside world’.
